Edit your account and business information
About account and business information
Manage your account and business settings to secure your account, change language preferences and keep your business information up to date.
Your account information includes the personal email address you use to sign in to your Square account, the phone number attached to your account, your secure contact methods and your language and time zone preferences.
Your business information includes your business name, branding, security settings and locations.
Before you begin
You can update your account and business information from your Square Dashboard. Make sure the information you want to record for your account and business is accurate.
Edit your email and phone number
Either your email address or phone number are used to sign in to your Square Dashboard and the Square Point of Sale app. They’re both required for your account, but you can always edit them.
Sign in to your Square Dashboard and click Settings > Account & Settings > Personal information > Sign in & security.
Select Update or Add next to the current email address or phone number.
Enter your account password and click Confirm.
If you already have 2-Step Verification enabled, enter your verification code. If you’re not already using 2-Step Verification, select whether you’d like a verification code sent to the current email address or your phone number.
Enter the new contact information you’d like to associate with your Square account and click Confirm.
If you sent your verification code to your email and don’t see the verification email in your inbox, check your spam folder or email filters. If you selected a phone number, make sure this number can receive SMS messages.
Edit your secure contact method
If Square detects unusual activity in your account and needs to contact the account holder, you can add an additional secure contact method to your account as a backup contact method.
Sign in to your Square Dashboard and click Settings > Account & Settings > Personal information > Sign in & security.
Click Manage ways to verify it’s you. You need at least one verified contact method—a phone number or email address—to update or add any additional secure contact methods in your account.
Click Update next to the contact method you want to change and proceed through the verification process. Click Continue.
Click Save.
Edit your account language and time zone settings
Language settings affects certain Square pages (such as the login page), and some email and text notifications that Square sends to you, but not your customers. To change the language of your Square Dashboard, you must change your web browser language in your browser settings. If you're not sure how, consult your web browser's help center or support team.
- Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Settings > Account & Settings > Personal information > Preferences.
- Update your account preferences for language and time zone, then click Submit.
Parts of British Columbia, along with Alberta, Manitoba, the Northwest Territories and parts of northwestern Ontario are staying on daylight time year-round, so clocks won’t fall back on November 1. If a location, device, or feature uses a US time zone, such as Los Angeles or Denver, times may be an hour off after this date.
Choose the time zone that applies to your location. For example:
- British Columbia locations that follow Pacific time (UTC-7), choose Pacific Time Zone - British Columbia (Vancouver).
- Alberta, the Northwest Territories and southeastern B.C. locations that follow Alberta time (UTC-6), choose Mountain Time Zone - Alberta (Edmonton).
- Manitoba and northwestern Ontario communities on Central time, like Kenora and Dryden (UTC-5), choose Central Time Zone - Manitoba (Winnipeg).
Time zone rules are set by provincial, territorial and local governments and can change. The examples included are for general guidance only, so please confirm the correct time for each of your locations and make sure your settings match.
Note: Your personal time zone is an account preference. Changing it does not update every time zone setting in Square. Review the settings for each location, device, and feature you use.
Ensure you update your Square app and Square device software before reviewing your settings. Check the selected time zone even if your device sets its clock automatically.

For customer-specific time zones and notification times, learn how to troubleshoot customer appointment communications. Changing settings does not fix appointments already booked. Review appointments on November 1 or later. If a time is wrong, edit and save the appointment, then confirm the time with your customer.
- Online ordering: Review the hours and time zone for each ordering method you use. Learn how to set up pickup options for Square Online, set up delivery options for Square Online, and set up and manage QR code ordering for your website.

After making changes, check upcoming appointments, scheduled orders, and reports to confirm the times are correct.
